Requests for specialized software or software upgrades in IT Computer Classrooms for the entire 2016-2017 academic year are due by Wednesday, June 1, 2016.

Security Alert! LinkedIn Passwords Compromised - Wed., 5/18

There are reports today that a large number of email addresses with passwords from the service LinkedIn are being offered for sale by a hacker. These passwords appear to be from a breach of LinkedIn from 2012.

It is recommended that anyone who has a LinkedIn account from that time or earlier and has used the same password since, change their LinkedIn password. In addition, if you have used the same password anywhere else, that password should be changed as well. Please remember that it is better, if you are able, to use a different password for each service you log in to.

Wireless Network Maintenance in North Residential Apartments - Tue., 5/10 - Fri., 5/13

Starting Tuesday, May 10, 2016 through Friday, May 13, 2016, UMass Amherst IT will be performing a wireless upgrade to the North Residential Apartments (A, B, C, and D). During this time, the wireless network will be unavailable, but wired jacks will still work. If you experience any difficulty connecting to the wireless network after the maintenance period, please contact the IT Help Center.

Security Alert! New Phishing Scam Targets UMass Amherst Email Credentials - Fri., 5/6

Members of the UMass Amherst campus community have reported a fraudulent email with the title “Important notice" claiming to be from “UMASS System”. This message notifies the user that they have “1 new important message” with a link to a fraudulent version of the UMass Amherst Exchange email login page.

Email Delivery Delays to Non-UMass Email Addresses - Wed., 5/4

Email messages from UMass Amherst email accounts sent to some non-UMass email services continue to be temporarily delayed for up 48 hours. During this interval, members of the university community may receive notifications of undelivered mail.

As a result of some information security issues, external email services are temporarily delaying accepting messages from UMass Amherst. UMass Amherst IT staff is working to resolve these issues, and are closely monitoring our email servers for further issues.
